Frequently Asked Questions

What are TRIO services?

Federal TRIO Programs were created in 1965 to address the educational needs of America's low-income and first generation to college population. The original "trio" of programs included Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, and Student Support Services.

Presently, TRIO has been expanded to include Upward Bound Math and Science Regional Centers, Veterans Upward Bound, Educational Opportunity Centers, and the Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program.

How do I Apply?

If you attend a "target" school, you should contact the program staff member who is available in the college office at your school on a weekly basis. Or, you may call the office of the program you are interested in and request that an application be mailed to you.

A limited number of participants may come from non-target schools. Please contact individual program staff for information regarding participant eligibility.
