Campaign-ZEROTOWN

THE FILM
"ZEROTOWN,” is the recipient of a $100,000 filmmaking grant from the San Francisco Film Society. Recent SFFS grant winners have gone on to win at the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals. SFFS supports films with strong themes of social and human justice, and “ZEROTOWN” thoroughly exemplifies those principles.

Set against the backdrop of the 2007 troop surge, "ZEROTOWN” (90 min, fiction, drama), is the story of a soldier turned Army recruiter, struggling to adapt to his new post, as he copes with his PTSD.

Writer/director Oden Roberts teamed up with writer/actor Azura Skye, to make a film about the war on the home front, during one of the largest troop deployments in our nation’s history.

PAYING IT FORWARD
“ZEROTOWN” the film, has partnered with Volunteers of America Los Angeles, and will be donating 50% of all proceeds raised on IndieGoGo to VOALA’s Veterans’ Housing Project in San Pedro, California. Originally built for Navy personnel and their families, the preexisting community was recently acquired by VOALA at no cost.

Fundraising will help to provide homes and supportive services for 100 veterans and their families. Contributions will go towards basic needs such as household furnishings, fixtures, and appliances.

VOALA was founded in downtown Los Angeles in 1896, and has been strengthening families and communities ever since. The organization has been providing aid to veterans since WWI.
