Last month, we started a new fiscal year. We didn't celebrate with fireworks and a big party. Instead, our team of dedicated workers rolled up their sleeves and got to work, attacking the extremely tough problems that a record number of people in our community are facing right now.
As I worked with our staff in developing a plan to assist as many people as we possibly can during the next 12 months, I was excited by the fact that we have been given a $100,000 matching gift challenge. A generous donor has agreed to match your gift, dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000.
I'm urging you to help us start off our new fiscal year by donating now. For $45 a day we can house and feed an entire family. This means that we can serve a homeless female veteran and her children with your $45 gift. And your gift will be doubled up to $100,000.
I am hopeful the tradition of generosity that our friends have shown through the years will continue today.
