Love and Marriage...
Eleanor met Arthur  LaVove when he was working on a promotion for United Airlines with one of her clients in Los Angeles in 1946. Art, who was born in New York City to French parents, had been a pilot for a company that became Western Airlines.

He had interesting tales to tell of his flying career. One of which involved flying a plane loaded with archeologists and their equipment in 1931 to the Yucatan Peninsula where they excavated the historical Mayan treasures at Chichen Itza. When World War II broke out, Art flew in a group of six planes the China-Burma-India (CBI) route for the Army Air Force, landing in remote locations under difficult conditions, bringing food and supplies to troops. He returned home via troop ship in 1946.

After his discharge from the Army Air Force, he did public relations work for United Airlines and, using the pen name Arthur Lauring, wrote scripts for several television and radio series including Citizen Soldier and a soap opera called Helen King – Lady Courageous for White King Soap for radio. Citizen Soldier was on five days per week and was based on true stories of soldiers’ experiences fighting in Europe.

Eleanor and Arthur were married in 1949. She wore a gown designed by Renie, a celebrity fashion designer. Renie designed gowns and costumes for Eizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra. Eleanor's gown, cocoa over peach, is now in the costume collection at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

They bought a small house in Westwood Village for $22,000. Their twin sons, Michael and Timothy were born in 1953. Today, Michael is an electrical engineer in Belmont, California and Timothy is a lawyer in Los Angeles. Eleanor has a step-daughter, Susan, who she also loves dearly. Susan works for NASA in Washington, D.C.

Art died of a heart attack in 1993. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
